THIS TRIP IS CURRENTLY FULL! SIGN UP FOR THE WAITING LIST BELOW.

Are you curious about birds but not sure how to get started? Geared specifically towards people who are brand new to birding or venturing out for one of the first times, this field trip is for you! Together, we'll look and listen for birds, focusing on tips for identification.

Let's meet at the first parking lot for Cherokee Marsh Conservation Park’s South Unit (43°08'53.8"N 89°22'57.0"W). We will meander around a trail that includes wetlands, ponds, and prairies. The official end time is 9am, but the trip leader will be available for an extra half hour if anyone would like to stay and check out an additional trail.

Bring a water bottle to stay hydrated; feel free to bring a camera, binoculars, and/or field guide. Binoculars will be available to borrow, if you'd like.

If you wish to use any app-based identification tools, please download and sign up ahead of time. The field trip leader will keep a checklist of all identified birds in the eBird app and will share the list with anyone who provides their username.

If you would like help getting transportation to the site, please contact Brenna at bmarsicek@madisonaudubon.org.
