Beginning Birders: Wondrous Wetlands (FULL)

  • Cherokee Marsh Conservation Park - North 6098 North Sherman Avenue Madison, WI, 53704 United States (map)

THIS TRIP IS FULL! USE THE FORM BELOW TO JOIN THE WAITLIST.

Are you curious or new to birding but not sure how to get started? Geared specifically towards people who are interested in learning a little more about birds in a welcoming, beginner-friendly small group setting, this outing for you!

Let's meet at the Cherokee Marsh North lot and trailhead at the end of N Sherman Ave (43°10'01.8"N 89°21'52.1"W). This incredible spot has a variety of habitats and trails, so we will decide together which we’d like to explore! Together, we'll look and listen for birds, focusing on tips for identification.

Bring a water bottle to stay hydrated; feel free to bring a camera, binoculars, and/or field guide. Binoculars will be available to borrow, if you'd like.

If you wish to use eBird, Merlin, BirdNET, or any other app-based identification tools, please download and sign up ahead of time. The field trip leader will keep a checklist of the birds we identify in the eBird app and they will share the list afterward.

Kaitlin Svabek is excited to welcome you to the world of birding!
