Special Presentation: Art for Citizen Scientists

  • Zoom Madison, WI, 53703 United States (map)

Registration is now closed.

Citizen and community science is an incredible way to get to know the natural world in a different, intimate way. As a special thank you to our many citizen science volunteers, we are hosting a free, special event held on Zoom that hopefully inspires you to document your observations in a new way: through art!

About the Presentation

Adding sketches, questions, and maps to your citizen science notes can be a fun way to deepen your connection with birds. In this presentation, science educator Amy Schleser will show you journals and sketchbooks she's made while monitoring bald eagle nesting and window collisions. You don’t have to be an artist to try this out—bird and nature journaling is all about noticing, wondering, and putting your ideas on paper. Amy will walk through ideas on how you can simply try it out for yourself!

Who should join

This special presentation is for Southern Wisconsin Bird Alliance (SoWBA) volunteers participating in one of SoWBA’s citizen science programs (Bald Eagle Nest Watch, Bird Collision Corps, Kestrel Nest Box Monitoring program, Songbird Nest Box Monitors, insect study volunteers, and others).

There is no cost for volunteers to participate in this presentation. Please join us!
