Celebrate Birdability Week with Badgerland Bird Alliance and the Wisconsin Council of the Blind and Visually Impaired! This week is geared toward raising awareness around accessibility in birding, and celebrate the many ways every body can enjoy birds!
On October 21, join in a morning of Birding by Ear. This is a wonderful way for people who are blind, visually impaired, or fully sighted to learn identify birds by listening for them rather than looking for them! The outing is led by Kerry Wilcox (volunteer and teacher of last spring’s Birding by Ear class) and held at Tenney Park.
We will begin with a short presentation about what birding by ear is and how it makes the joy of birding available to anyone anywhere, followed by small groups walking through the park and practicing listening for bird sounds. Toward the end of the outing, we will cross Sherman Avenue as a group and walk on sidewalks closer to the lake to hear waterfowl on Lake Mendota.
This outing is wheelchair and white cane accessible. Co-hosted by Madison Audubon and the Wisconsin Council of the Blind and Visually Impaired
