Boots on the Ground: citizen science for non-scientists

  • Oakwood Village - Prairie Ridge 5565 Tancho Drive Madison, WI, 53718 United States (map)

Citizen science is a wonderful way for community members to participate in important research studies, and the studies greatly benefit too! Through the Bald Eagle Nest Watch and Bird Collision Corps programs, volunteers with the Southern Wisconsin Bird Alliance (formerly Madison Audubon) help study Bald Eagle populations and nesting success, as well as the dangers windows pose to birds. Learn how these programs work and the important information the volunteers have collected in this presentation.

Presentation is held at Oakwood Village Prairie Ridge.

About the speaker: Brenna Marsicek is the director of outreach for Southern Wisconsin Bird Alliance and coordinates or supports a variety of volunteer citizen science programs including Bald Eagle Nest Watch, Kestrel Nest Box Monitoring Program, Bird Collision Corps, and the Madison-area Christmas Bird Count. She loves helping people connect with nature in creative, engaging, and meaningful ways.
