The Wisconsin DNR’s Natural Heritage Conservation program is now taking applications for a number of paid internships that are geared toward engaging traditionally marginalized groups.

The outdoors we love is going to take an abundance and diversity of young people who'll make the outdoors their passion and their profession. Those folks need internships. Please see the information below about a very worthwhile DNR summer internship program and alert any young person who might be interested and has any of the qualifications described in the third paragraph.

Thank you,

Topf Wells, Madison Audubon board of directors and advocacy committee chair

Turtle wrangler, web designer and invasive species specialist—these are the exciting paid internships offered this summer by DNR Natural Heritage Conservation through the State of Wisconsin Student Diversity Internship Program.

Wildlife biologist, GIS specialist, property planner and water supply specialist are some of the two dozen other paid internships being offered by sister DNR programs.

The paid internships offer students with racial or ethnic minority backgrounds, students who identify as women, students with disabilities, and veteran students an opportunity to work in a professional work environment within state government and get paid.

Visit DNR's Internship webpage for more on these and other internship opportunities and help us spread the word. The deadline to apply is March 19, 2021.
